After 10 days of residing at the Equestrian Hotel, the Wee Row Hostel in New Lanark has finally become my home for the remainder of this stay in Scotland. Needless to say, it is quite a relief to finally be so close to my work, as well as close to the adventures that await along the River Clyde. While the walk up the hill to Lanark will prove to be quite the trek, once I finally get up the nerve to venture out for groceries, I am ready for the great workout that it will provide.
In terms of my work, today I spent the day in the search room, researching some of the objects that have been turned in for the upcoming exhibition and putting away a number of newspaper clippings and reports. Within the newspaper clippings, I got to learn a good deal about the way in which New Lanark worked towards becoming a World Heritage Site. Also, with the discovery of a number of congratulatory letters, it became apparent that there were a number of individuals rooting for the World Heritage Site status. Also, with the number of New Lanark reports in other languages, it is quite obvious that many people have found interest in the history of this site. Truth be told, I sometimes forget the magnitude of some of these sites!
