What a Week

So far, I have missed 2 days of work due to a severe cold that has pulled out all of the stops: runny nose, cough, sore throat, headache, and chest congestion.

Monday was a great day with a trip to the gym, but it was all down hill from there. Tuesday, I woke up with a sore throat but I wrote it off as just a side effect of the dry air. By the afternoon, though, I knew something was amiss. Wednesday, I woke up in excruciating pain and decided to stay in bed for half the day. Thursday, I braved the pain and went back to work with a water bottle and large bottle of citrus juice, trying to flush out my system. Friday, though, brought with it an onslaught of severe symptoms that rendered me useless once again.

Ultimatley, this week saw little progress. I was able to completely scan and edit two scrapbooks that provided information on New Lanark. These scrapbooks were full of newspaper clippings, photographs, and New Lanark pamphlets. Some of them were so large that I was required to take multiple scans and find a method for piecing them back together. Ultimately, all of the items were scanned, which will allow the information to be better preserved. As I worked, I read some of the articles and was able to learn more about the various events that New Lanark has hosted over the years.

Also, I managed to put away a number of items that had to do with New Harmony and a variety of sites across the world. It was interesting to read a variety of takes on New Harmony given that I have only learned about the site through instructors and site staff. In addition to New Harmony, there were a number of documents on other English and American historic sites.

This week did bring with it a realization...I am the cause of the incessant rain. At first, people joked about me being the reason for the influx of rain. Now, I am starting to believe that my presence is the cause!
