I Wonder as I Wander

Today I was given time to roam about New Lanark on my own, taking in the sights and learning more about the site. I didn't realize that the factory ran up until 1968, nor did I realize its significance during the wars. With 235 years of history, this site is bound to provide some exceptional information!

I'm still not quite sure as to what my tasks will be, but I do know that there is quite a bit of research to be done. In the archives, I will be assisting in the accessioning and maintenance of the artifacts. Also, I will be assisting in the location of artifacts for an upcoming exhibit on food in Scotland.

Once I was done for the day, I went back to the hotel to freshen up before going to the Inn on the Loch for dinner. At dinner, I was served tomato soup, lasagna with garlic bread, and a brownie with ice cream. To say the least, I was quite full, but it was my first true dinner since arriving in Scotland. After dinner, I hiked around Lanark Loch, about a 1/2 mile hike I presume. It was a beautiful walk and I discovered some paths up through the woods that would be great to explore. (I wish that my hiking buddies were here to come along.)

So far, I have enjoyed my time, but I am still struggling with jet lag and sleeplessness. Hopefully I can get some rest this weekend before venturing out to look around Lanark.
